DG press relocated, reconfigured and installed a sleeve web offset press for cardboard applications at a production location of Tetra Pak in the USA. This project was conducted by three international Dutch companies: DG press (specialized in web offset presses), Madern (a leading manufacturer of rotary tools) and CSi packaging industry (a leader in post press material stacking and handling system).
DG press was in charge of the relocation of the existing sleeve offset press from the Netherlands to the USA and was also leading the reconfiguration of this machine. A new flexo unit was integrated, as well as a rotary die unit and a palletizing system.
Tetra Pak asked DG press (Madern and CSi packaging industry) to create a fully automatic in-line process for printing, rotary die-cutting and handling of cardboard. The combination and integration of this equipment results in a highly efficient cardboard converting process. Tetra Pak was successfully running production after 9 months from the start of the project.
Tetra Pak equipped the sleeve web offset press with a rotary die cutter of Madern and a stacking and robot palletising system of CSi packaging industry to reach the highest possible production output. This in-line process offers a speed which cannot be matched by sheet-fed presses and a print-quality which is higher than flexo presses could offer.
